Hearing on Order to Close or Vacate The Peace House DC

Hearing on Order to Close or Vacate The Peace House DC
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 26th, 2014

On November 26th, 2014, we filed an appeal on the Order to Vacate dated November 21st, 2014. Which was approved since it was within five (5) calendar days of the service of the order. We have a court hearing set at the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) on December 2nd, 2014 at 2 pm.

For the hearing on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014, the main priority will be for The Peace House DC to show the judge that we are not unsafe at our place of residence and/or that any safety issues can be addressed promptly. This means assessing the electrical system to ensure that it does not constitute a fire hazard. As well as figuring out a safe way to “keep warm” in the winter without causing a fire hazard. This will be a way to maximize the chances of being able to remain in the property.

If you know of any electricians or other contractor types that could help in save this space please let us know. You contact us at PeaceHDC@gmail.com and/or 202-842-2873. 1. I urge you to reconsider the design of your website. The black background combined with gray type is almost completely illegible. I am a dedicated reader and I struggle to understand. Those less motivated than I will simply click away.

Research has shown over and over that a white background is the most legible. And that reverse type (in which background is dark and type light) is best used only for short passages using much larger point size for the type. Especially in the design of a website for a cause, it is most important to allow form to follow function.

I guarantee you that every reader and follower of your website will wholeheartedly thank you if you make these simple changes: white background and black type.

Best wishes in your quest to remain residents of Peace House. Hopefully, you will be able to continue your good works there.
